MLB Picks for Friday

C- Carlos Santana CLE- Santana has had a disappointing year there's no doubt about that, but we like him on Draftstreet today. He's priced at 5k which makes it pretty easy to hit his value. Considering he has always been an OBP machine, we like his chances to have at least one walk and a single. That's 1.75 points and with a run or RBI we easily hit value with this pick.

1B- Prince Fielder DET- One of the hottest hitters this month has been Prince. He is hitting .361 with 3 home runs in the last two weeks. He is facing Jake Peavy tonight (at home) which can be a little scary, but after looking at Peavy's numbers closer we aren't too scared. On the road, Peavy has a 2.95 ERA while at home he has a 3.29 ERA. BUT, at home Peavy has given up 19 less hits in 1 less inning and hitters are batting .60 points lower. We like the Prince's chances tonight.

2B- Neil Walker PIT- Walker is the hottest hitting second basemen in the league right now. He is hitting .486 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI in the last two weeks. That's not a typo folks, .486! His matchup tonight is Nolasco who has had some success lately, but we aren't that scared considering how hot Walker is.

3B- Ryan Zimmerman- Zimmerman is facing the righty Hanson tonight. He is hitting very well in the last two weeks with a .324 batting average with 3 home runs. Hanson has struggled on the other hand sporting a 6.69 ERA in his last two starts. We tried finding a nice righty/lefty combo today at third base, but we couldn't. Zimmerman should be OK as he isn't a big time power hitter and relies more on gap power. WEATHER WARNING

SS- Alcides Escobar KC- Escobar is facing a ground ball machine in Blackburn, but on any given start he could leave his fastball up and get lit up pretty quick. We like Escobar tonight because of how hot he is hitting over .310 in the last two weeks and his great speed.

OF- Brennan Boesch DET- Boesch has finally turned it around and is hitting .379 with a home run in the last two weeks. Those are some great numbers considering he has played in almost every game during that span. We aren't too scared about his matchup with Peavy, and we like the play at under 7K.

OF- Luke Scott TB- Welcome Scott back into the mix of fantasy play as he finally has come back from that treacherous slump. He is hitting .353 with 2 home runs in the last two weeks. Tonight he faces a righty in Iwakuma for the Mariners. Iwakuma has thrown 5 innings and is sporting a 7.2 ERA in the last two weeks.

OF- Josh Reddick OAK- Reddick is hitting .382 in the last two weeks for the A's and amazingly isn't even the hottest hitter on the team. Cespedes probably takes that title, but that's fine. Reddick still is crushing the baseball and is facing a struggling Ivan Nova. For some reason, we really think Reddick takes one out tonight.

SP- Tim Lincecum SF- At this price we'll roll with him all day. Only 9K is a great price for a former stud and high strikeout pitcher. His ERA is less than 5.00 in the last two starts, and is facing the Phillies who isn't the best hitting team by any means. We like this play a lot tonight. WEATHER WARNING

SP- Kevin Correja PIT- Correja has a 3.00 ERA in his last 6 innings with 6 Ks. Pretty solid numbers for a guy priced at 8K. Against the Marlins today, he should do even better. This Marlins team has no Stanton, and guys like Reyes and Hanley Ramirez are just not the same hitters as they used to be right now.

RP- Joel Hanrahan PIT- Hanrahan is getting some good work in as of late with the way the Pirates are playing, but tonight he'll be pitching on one day's rest if he gets in. We think the Pirates squeak out a 4-2 victory over the Marlins and Hanrahan shuts the door like he has in the last two weeks. His stats duiring that time are as follows: 4.1 innings, 5 saves, and 4 Ks.
