MLB Picks for Monday

C- Miguel Olivo SEA- Olivo is hitting .250 with 2 home runs in the last two weeks and has had a hit in each of his last two games. Nothing crazy impressive there, but with him facing a lefty today (Miley) we really like this play if the Mariners plug him into their lineup. Make sure to check lineups before teams are locked today.

1B- Albert Pujols LAA- Pujols hit himself another home run last night as he went 1-4. Today he faces Matt Cain and his hot streak that he's on right now. I usually don't pick players against pitchers that just threw a perfect game, but when you have the chance to take a guy like Pujols for only 7K you have to jump on it.

2B- Brandon Phillips CIN- We splurged here and went with the Reds second basemen. He is hitting great over the last two weeks (.321 4 HR 12 RBI). Facing a guy like Lowe should mean plenty of hits and base runners today for the Reds.

3B- Brett Lawrie TOR- Lawrie is relatively cheap being 6K, but we like him more cause of how he is hitting lately. He is hitting .320 over the last two weeks and is facing a control pitcher in Wolf. We actually have Wolf on our team, but we only are picking him (and Rajai Davis for OF) because we think he'll give up some hits but is good for 4 fantasy points.

SS- Zack Cozart CIN- Cozart has gotten out of his slump, and is hitting .380 over the last two weeks with 2 home runs. He has a little pop to him which is nice for a shortstop. We like him along with most of the Reds against Lowe tonight.

OF- Rajai Davis TOR- Davis is a speed demon, and with a pitcher like Wolf on the mound he should be able to get on base at least once. He has 6 stolen bases in the last two weeks, and we like him to add to that total without really hurting Wolf's value.

OF- Angel Pagan SF- Pagan is hitting great this season, and we love that he is a switch hitter. Facing Williams, he'll be hitting from the left side where he is hitting .329 on the season. He swings with less power (2 HR compared to 3 HR from the right side), but we aren't looking for power. We are looking for runs and hits.

OF- Lucas Duda NYM- Duda is facing the struggling Arrieta today (8.29 ERA in last two weeks). He is only swinging .277 in the last two weeks, but vs a struggling righty we think today is going to be a good day for him.

SP- Jonathan Sanchez KC- Sanchez is sporting a 1.80 ERA in his 5 innings of work in the past two weeks. That's a good sign for those DFS players that still remember his no hitter he threw way back when. He faces a young and bad team in the Astros today that should make for a great matchup. Should end the day with 6 strikeouts at least.

SP- Mat Latos CIN- Latos has 10 Ks in his last 13.1 innings pitched and is sporting a mid 3 ERA. He faces off a pretty solid team in the Indians. They have some good hitters like Cabrera and Santana, but overall we aren't scared of the lineup as long as Latos is in command of his pitches. Should at worst get the win as Lowe has struggled for the Indians as of late.

RP- Santiago Casilla SF- Casilla should get the chance for the save tonight as Cain squares off against Cain. It should be a tight ball game as these two are both pitching well this season (Cain obviously). We expect Williams to rebound from his last couple of starts and hold the Giants to 3-4 runs as the Giants win 4-1.
