C- AJ Ellis- With a home run the other night, Ellis now has 6 on the year and is batting .315 with 22 RBI. He faces a lefty in Cliff Lee today.
1b: Paul Konerko – Konerko should be well rested as he had the day off on Sunday. Konerko is having an unbelievable year for the White Sox (.366, 11 homeruns, 31 runs scored, 33 RBIs). Faces a lefty in Ricky Romero today.
2b: Elian Herrera – Herrera has had at least one hit
in 5 of his last 6 games, and he is a steal at 5.2K.
3b: Alex Rodriguez – Has hit a homerun in 2 of his
last 3 games, A-Rod is batting .284 with 9 homeruns on the season. He is not a bad bargain at 6.7K.
SS: Zack Cozart – He is not having the type of
rookie season the Reds were hoping for, but he has been swinging a hot bat
lately going 4 for his last 10 with a homerun and 4 runs scored.
OF: J.D. Martinez – Riding a 5 game hit streak,
Martinez is 8 for his last 21 with a homerun.
And he is batting over .300 over the last two weeks. He is only 6K.
OF: Nyjer Morgan – Morgan has not hit a homerun all
season, and then in back to back games, he hits a homerun. He is also riding a 5 game hitting streak
while batting .294 over the last two weeks.
He does have 7 stolen bases this year.
OF: Kirk Nieuwenhuis – Batting over .300 this year,
Nieuwenhuis is 9 for his last 24 with a homerun. He also has 31 runs scored on the year.
U: Carlos Quentin – Boys is Quentin hot right
now. Since coming off the DL, he is
batting .474 with 3 homeruns in those 19 at bats.
U: Dayan Viciedo – Viciedo has 12 homeruns so far
this year, and he is hot of late batting .354 with 5 homeruns and 14 RBIs over
the last two weeks.
SP: Francisco Liriano – After mightily struggling so
far this year, it is possible Lirano has finally find his way as he through 6
scoreless innings in his last start to earn the victory. He faces the Royals today who are 25th
in the league in runs scored.
SP: Drew Smyly – The rookie left hander for the Tigers
is having a very good season so far (2-1 with 50 Ks and a 3.46 ERA). Today he faces the Indians who are 13th
in runs scored, and 16th in batting average.
SP: Tim Lincecum – Yes the “Freak” is having a down
year, but in his last start he went 7 innings while giving up only 1 run with 6
Ks. And it is hard not to play the
former Cy Young award winner when he is only 11K.
RP: Craig Kimbrel – With a 1.80 ERA and 16 saves so
far, the 2011 Rookie of the Year has been lights out in 2012. Today the Braves face the Marlins with ace
Tim Hudson pitching, and we believe Kimbrel will get the opportunity to close
the game out after the Braves were off on Monday.
