MLB Picks for Monday

C- JP Arencibia TOR- Arencibia is up there with hottest hitting catchers right now in baseball with Carlos Ruiz. He is hitting .333 with 5 home runs and over 10 runs scored and RBI in the last two weeks. He is facing Hellickson today a solid young righty, but for his of 7K it was worth it to spend the extra change when looking at the other choices.

1B- Albert Pujols LAA- Pujols is finding his power as he went back to back days with home runs last week. His stats over the last 2 weeks are also improving (.241, 3HR, 13RBI). He is facing a lefty in Milone who pitches better at home, but we like the Angels to put up some runs today.

2B- Brandon Phillips CIN- Phillips is starting to swing like the Phillips of old. He is hitting over .300 in the last two weeks with 7 runs scored and 7 RBI. He has zero home runs over that time, but today he faces a lefty in Minor. Minor's ERA in last two weeks is over 12. Yikes.

3B- Mark Trumbo LAA- This should be one of the easiest picks of the day in our opinion. Trumbo is not only hitting over .400 in the last two weeks, but he's also a guy that crushes lefties. He's got power potential and should show it today against the A's.

SS- JJ Hardy BAL- Hardy has been the man during the last two weeks. His batting average is just under .400 and his runs scored and RBI numbers are over 10. Those are great numbers and he is facing Buchholz tonight. We like that.

OF- Nelson Cruz TEX- Cruz seems to be a little banged up right now, so you're going to want to confirm his spot in the lineup tonight before confirming your own lineup. He should be able to DH, and if he does then we like the play. He is hitting almost .370 in the last two weeks with double digits runs scored and RBI. Those are solid numbers and he seems to be on a hot streak.

OF- Curtis Granderson NYY- Grandy isn't having the season he'd like to be having, but in the past two weeks his numbers haven't been so bad in fantasy terms. He is only hitting .218 during that time, but he also has 4 home runs and stolen base potential. He faces a righty in Paulino today.

OF- Justin Upton ARI- Upton is coming along very strong in the last few games. This also coincides with the day I traded him away, but that's just coincidence right? He is facing a lefty in Capuano who has pitched very well this season, but we don't think he will be lights out tonight.

SP- Jaime Garcia STL- Garcia is pitching for a good team that is facing an average hitting team. His value would be better if he was pitching in San Diego tonight, but we still like him at home. He has 14 Ks in 12.3 innings in the last two weeks.

SP- Jamie Moyer COL- Moyer is super old, and is super cheap tonight. He is under 7K which is very nice, and he'll be pitching in Miami which we like. Their lineup is hitting better, but has shown that they can be dominated by average pitching.

RP- Casey Janssen TOR- Janssen has pitched great in the last two weeks with 5 Ks and 3 saves in 5 innings during that time. Today he faces the Rays who we like to keep up with the Blue Jays, but lose 5-2. We also like Drabek tonight, and that's one of the reasons why we think it stays close.
