Thursday's MLB Picks

C- Humberto Quintero KC- Quintero is an easy pick for us. He's in the low 3K price range, and we know he is going to catch because Duffy is on the mound for the Royals today. There are a bunch of early games, so you don't want to get stuck with 4-5K down the drain because your catcher isn't in the lineup.

1B- Bryan LaHair CHC- LaHair is hitting over .400 in the last two weeks. He is unbelievably hot right now. He hits in the middle of the Cubs lineup, and is facing Homer Bailey today. Bailey has pitched well this season, but the righty shouldn't maintain it much longer.

2B- Kelly Johnson TOR- Johnson and the Blue Jays offense tore it up yesterday against the Rangers. They put up an easy 11 runs. Johnson had a home run in the game, and faces a righty this time today in Dan Haren. Haren is a tough pitcher to hit, but we really like how Johnson is seeing the ball right now.

3B- Mike Moustakas KC- Moustakas is hitting even better than Gordon lately. His .380 batting average with 2 home runs is very impressive in the past two weeks. We like the matchup against the young Phelps from the Yankees.

SS- Starlin Castro CHC- Castro is a great young hitter that is now hitting 3 hole for the Cubbies. We really like LaHair today, and so it only makes sense that we like the guy hitting above him that is almost as hot. He is hitting over .300 in the last two weeks, and has 4 stolen bases to go with it.

OF- Michael Bourn ATL- Bourn has some great numbers in the last two weeks like almost hitting .400. He is hitting in a better offense and is facing Joe Blanton. Blanton has a middle 4 ERA right now which should bode well for the Braves lefty hitters.

OF- Alex Gordon KC- Gordon is facing an unproven young righty in Phelps today. Gordon should have a good matchup considering he is swinging extremely better since the first week of the season. He is hitting over .300 in the last two weeks with 3 home runs and 9 RBI/runs.

OF- Matt Joyce TB- Joyce is crushing the ball right now. He hit a home run and a triple in the same game two days ago, and is now facing an old Kevin Millwood. We like to pick on old guys here at OSF, so we like Joyce a lot today. What's not to like about his .350 batting average and 5 home runs in the last two weeks?

SP- Ross Detwiler WAS- Detwiler should have a good score today for his price. He is only 9K on Draftstreet, and is very hot so far this season. He has 19 Ks in 21 innings, and is sporting a 1.64 ERA. The matchup against the Diamondbacks isn't the greatest, but he'll be lefty-lefty against Montero and Kubel which will be nice.

SP- Randall Delgado ATL- Delgado struggled last time out against the Pirates, but for this 10K price we had to go with him. He is facing the weak hitting Phillies, and is a solid K guy (21 Ks in 20 innings). The Braves are playing better since that terrible first week, and they aren't facing Hamels, Lee, or Halladay. This should be a good opportunity for a win.

RP- Santiago Casilla SF- Casilla is one of our favorite options for closer these days. He is under 2K and is a great reliever. His stuff is unhittable, and it's a lock for at least 1 strikeout when he pitches.
