MLB Picks for Wednesday

C- Matt Wieters BAL- For once, we area actually going to spend some money on a catcher here. Wieters is hitting over .300 with 2 home runs in the last two weeks. Very good numbers for the switch hitter facing a righty Colby Lewis.

1B- Bryan LaHair CHC- This is going to be our first basemen as long as he is under 8K. He is just too hot right now not to play. Hitting over .400 with 6 home runs in the last two weeks! Take him today as he faces Hudson who struggled big time in his last start.

2B- Robinson Cano NYY- Cano is a big name talent priced under 7K today. We love it because he'll be hitting at home and everyone knows lefties love hitting at Yankee Stadium. He'll be facing the righty Neimann for the Rays.

3B- Miguel Cabrera DET- We have seen a lot of good swings from Cabrera in the last couple of games, and he faces a lefty in Vargas today. Vargas won't be able to overpower him and as long as Cabrera sticks with his usual oppo gap approach he'll do major damage.

SS- JJ Hardy BAL- Hardy has been GREAT in the last couple of games. He has games of 5, 3, and two hits with 3 home runs in those games. Hardy will be facing a righty, but we love his hot hand as we have seen his batting average jump from .190 to .240 this past week.

OF- Austin Jackson DET- Jackson should continue his hot streak against Vargas today. He's hitting over .350 in the last two weeks, and has really started to use his wheels as of late with 4 stolen bases in those games. We really like Miggy to drive AJax in once or twice today.

OF- Ben Zobrist TB- Zobrist has been pretty bad this season, but last night he showed us some real signs of turning his game around. He hit a very nice triple into the left center gap yesterday off of Soriano, and we like him to continue those kinds of swings against the young Phelps.

OF- Luke Scott TB- Scott is a strikeout machine which is obviously terrible for hitters in fantasy sports, but his power potential is huge. He hit a home run last night, and against the young righty, Phelps, we really like this play. Honestly we think the core of the Rays lineup should do great today, but Scott is the guy we like the most.

SP- Drew Smyly DET- Smyly's numbers this year are ridiculous. He has a 2.25 ERA in his last two starts, and has 14 Ks in those 12 innings pitched. He'll be pitching in a great pitcher's park, against a team who struggles to consistently hit well (Seattle).

SP- Ross Detwiler WAS- Detwiler is playing for a hot team in the Nationals, and the main reason is its starting pitching. He has under a 3 ERA in his last two starts, and is facing a Pirates team who isn't known for its offense. He isn't a big strikeout guy, only 6 in his last 12.1 innings pitched, but he should go deep into the game and not give up a ton of htis.

RP- Santiago Casilla SF- Casilla has nasty strikeout stuff, and has Lincecum pitching for them today. He should be a great play because of the high probability of a tight low scoring ball game.
