MLB Picks for Tuesday

C- AJ Ellis LAD- Ellis is hitting .353 over the last two weeks and has been hitting in the middle of the Dodgers order. There will likely be less RBI opportunities with Kemp now being on the DL, but Ellis' ability to hit for a high average of the last two weeks should provide for him being a part of a run or RBI.

1B- Bryan LaHair CHC- I don't get it anymore. How does LaHair keep going down in price on DS? He is now under 6K even though he put up double digit fantasy points last night. I'm not even going to justify this pick. It justifies itself.

2B- Jason Kipnis CLE- Kipnis is a high priced second basemen today that we like versus Jason Marquis. Marquis gives up bunches of hits, and has put up negative fantasy points in the last two weeks. For this reason, we like Kipnis along with Asdrubal Cabrera today.

3B- Josh Donaldson OAK- Donaldson is the cheapest third basemen on the board today. In a way, this is a risky play as Donaldson has been playing because of the Inge injury. On a day with early games this hurts us and makes us cautious, but we like the way he played in AAA and his double yesterday. Pick with caution.

SS- JJ Hardy BAL- Hardy has been red hot really since that 5 hit game sometime last week. He crushed the ball yesterday recording two hits with one of them being a home run. Sabathia will be a tougher match up today, but we like the hot hitter tonight. He is hitting .328 with 6 home runs in the past two weeks.

OF- Bryce Harper WAS- Harper hit his first MLB home run last night. Tonight we like him to play well against Bass the right handed pitcher for the Padres. Harper's average isn't great in the last two weeks (.220), but he does a lot of things like taking walks, and turns singles into doubles.

OF- Andy Dirks DET- Dirks is hitting over .400 in the past two weeks and his overall average this season is over .350. He has really impressed everyone as he was plugged into the two hole a couple of weeks ago when Boesch kept struggling. Dirks has an average matchup tonight against Peavy, but we saw some signs of life in the beginning of yesterday's game and we liked it.

OF- Matt Holliday STL- Holliday is hitting .333 in the past two weeks with 2 home runs and double digit RBI and runs scored. Those are some good numbers, and although he is facing a pitcher with good numbers recently, we like him to do well today. I don't know about you, but I'm not scared about Maholm even if his ERA is under 1 in the last two weeks.

SP- Johnny Cueto CIN- Cueto is a rather expensive pick being over 14K, but we had to go with him considering how bad the 8-12K options were. Cueto has been great this season and has been pitching like an ace. He is facing the Braves today who are hitting pretty decent right now, but have holes in their lineup.

SP- Josh Beckett BOS- Beckett's terrible performance in his last start has caused his price to drop significantly, and fantasy players like us jump for joy. His matchup today against the Mariners is great. Lester dominated them last night for a complete game win, and although we don't expect 9 strong innings out of Beckett we can easily see 7 strong innings.

RP- Jason Motte STL- We liked Motte to get the save last night for the Cardinals, but Boggs pitched terribly and got the loss. Well, the good news is that Boggs isn't going to pitch tonight due to all the pitches he threw, or so we think. Lohse vs Maholm should make for a low scoring affair and we like the Cardinals to win this one.
