MLB Picks for Monday

C- Ramon Hernandez COL- Hernandez has seen some glimpses of power the last couple games hitting two home runs in the last week. That's solid power for a guy on a new team. We like him hitting in Colorado and he is at home tonight. He is facing a lefty in Luebke.

Other Catcher: Humberto Quintero KC

1B- Adam Laroche WAS- We found it hard to go with one of the most expensive first basemen considering their matchups and how they have played lately. Laroche has been swinging the bat real well, and every time we turn it seems like he has a single or double for 2 RBIs in the game that day.

Other First Basemen: Justin Morneau MIN, Kendrys Morales LAA

2B- Howie Kendrick LAA- Kendrick has been swinging the bat well as of late and has a good matchup in facing McCarthy at home. He hits in a big time lineup that just has been hitting pretty well and will only continue to do better once Pujols wakes up.

2B- Freddy Galvis PHI- Giving you an extra second basemen here because we saw this pick after we wrote about Kendrick. Galvis has hit in 5 straight games, and is facing a struggling Lincecum. Lince is doing terrible so far and doesn't have the velocity he used to have. Galvis is a solid contact hitter that shouldn't have any trouble slapping the ball around against Lincecum.

Other Second Basemen: Robert Andino BAL,

3B- Chase Headley SD- Headley has hit in 7 games straight, and is going to be hitting in Colorado tonight. This is good considering his low price of 6.5K. He has potential for a 3 to 4 RBI game, but he seems streaky when it comes to RBIs. Guthrie struggled big time last start and we think it continues more at home.

Other Third Basemen: David Wright NYM

SS- Derek Jeter NYY- Jeter is hitting it real well hitting at a .361 clip before last night's game against the Halos. He is hitting at the top of an order that is getting hot with guys like Swisher and Arod swinging it well behind him. Jeter should get a hit or two going against a ground ball pitcher like Pavano.

Other Shortstops: Ian Desmond WSH, Troy Tulowitzki COL

OF- Chris Young ARI- We are going to keep riding the CY train until it ends because man is he hot. He is hitting for power and average and in the middle of an order that can hit the ball a long way. Bedard can be a good candidate for strikeouts, but considering how hot Young is we like him to swing at good pitches and put a charge into a few more balls.

OF- Austin Jackson DET- Jackson has a decent matchup facing a lefty in Duffy. Duffy has some good stuff, but has been prone to walks and big innings. The Tigers' offense really got it going last night and we think they have the potential to do it against tonight. If Jackson gets on by walk or hit he has good potential to get a stolen base or two.

OF- Delmon Young DET- Young has been hitting very well in the last couple of games. He had a home run two games ago, and hit a double last night. We like this power hitting to continue as he faces the lefty Duffy. Delmon is a free swinger, so there is strikeout potential here, but we think if Miggy can get hot again there is also big time RBI potential tonight.

SP- Jered Weaver LAA- Weaver is a strikeout machine. This is perfect for the Draftstreet scoring format. Put this with the fact that Weaver is facing the A's and it's a great pick for a starting pitcher even if he is 17K. He's averaging over 1 strikeout per innings, so we are thinking he should be good for 8 or 9 strikeouts tonight.

SP- Jake Arrieta BAL- Arrieta's pitches have looked sharper this season than in year's past. It's kind of surprising to see this considering he had minor arm surgery in the off season. The White Sox aren't hitting exactly that great (see Rick Porcello) and Arrieta should be good for at least 3 strikeouts (see Adam Dunn). We like Arrieta for 6 strikeouts in 6 innings while only allowing 3 runs.

RP- Mariano Rivera NYY- Rivera is the best closer in the game. As a whole, his season hasn't been that bad. His stats are skewed more by the one appearance on opening day. We like the Yankees over the Twins here, but we don't think that it'll be by too much considering how the Twins have been more competitive.
