MLB Picks for Sunday

C- George Kottaras MIL- Kottaras is 4 for 10 on the year with 3 home runs. He's a good bet to play today against the Braves because Lucroy caught last night and they are facing Beachy the righty. We like him to keep a hot bat going against this righty.

Other Catchers: Carlos Santana CLE, JP Arencibia TOR

1B- Adam Laroche WAS- Laroche has been racking up the RBIs and extra base hits lately. He has completely taken advantage of the opportunity he has been given with the Morse injury. Luckily for him, Morse has a more serious injury than they thought and will miss more time. Mike Leake has struggled in the past, and with the lack of any offensive production by the Reds we like all the momentum to be with the Nationals.

Other First Basemen: Paul Goldschmidt ARI, Justin Morneau MIN

2B- Omar Infante MIA- Infante is right up there with Kinsler for hottest hitting second basemen in the league. He has just under 10 RBIs on the season with 3 home runs. This is a great stat line for a second basemen this early on in the season. Against the lefty in Happ we really like him to boost his average.

Other Second Basemen: Robinson Cano NYY, Dan Uggla ATL

3B- Edwin Encarnacion TOR- Encarnacion has always had the potential to be a 25-30 home run hitter with a .270 batting average. Injuries have always been his downfall, so he hasn't reached his potential and consistency that his coaches have expected. Well, he's capitalizing on consistent at bats and has stroked the ball. We like a lot of the Blue Jays today against Matusz.

Other Third Basemen: Ian Stewart CHC, Evan Longoria TB

SS- Ruben Tejada NYM- Tejada had a nice night last night getting two hits against the Phillies and Worley. We like him to do more of the same tonight even against a guy like Hamels. Hamels wasn't exactly on point last game and we think there's a good possibility that the Mets can make it happen twice.

Other Shortstop: Troy Tulowitzki COL, Starlin Castro CHC

OF-Chris Young ARI- Young is one of our favorite picks this week with the way he has been playing. He has had some big RBI hits and we think it continues against the Rockies and young lefty Pomeranz. Pomeranz was brought over in the Ubaldo deal and he's sure to be a big time pitcher for them eventually, but we don't think he's ready yet for an offense like the Diamondbacks.

OF- Josh Hamilton TEX- Hamilton had a monster game yesterday, and we like him to get hotter facing Hendriks, a guy we've never heard of. 8.4K is a steal for what he has done lately and his matchup today.

OF- Michael Saunders SEA- Saunders had the night off last night going against a lefty, but should be in the lineup tonight. He's super cheap and a solid play going against a righty at home.

SP- Edinson Volquez SD- Volquez has 15 Ks in his two starts this season with a pretty good ERA. He probably isn't going to win this game against Kershaw and the Dodgers. That's fine with us as long as he goes 5 strong and Ks up 7 guys he'll be worth the 12K price.

SP- Rick Porcello DET- Porcello pitched very well last week against the Rays only giving up 1 run in 7 innings. We like him to do more of the same against the White Sox who have struggled to score runs against the Tigers' starters this season. Most of their damage has come against Detroit's relievers. Hopefully another cloudy day will be in store and keep the lighting how it has been the last two games.

RP- Jonny Venters ATL- The Braves have won 4 straight, and Kimbrel has saved all 4 of them. There is no way the Braves will let Kimbrel pitch today if a save situation arises. We like Venters to get the save opportunity. Look for the Braves to stay hot today.
