MLB Picks for Wednesday

C- Jonathan Lucroy MIL- Lucroy is hitting very well splitting at bats with the also hot Kottaras. 2 home runs paired with an over .340 average is very good even for this early in the season. We expect Lucroy to be in the lineup tonight because Capuano is pitching for the Dodgers, a lefty. 6.5K is a pretty decent price for a catcher of this caliber tonight.

Other Catchers: Joe Mauer MIN, AJ Pierzynski CWS

1B- Albert Pujols LAA- This might be the most picked player of the night. We are talking about the best hitter in baseball since his career started at a price of less than 8K. It's not like he's not getting any hits. He just isn't getting timely hits and home runs. No way this lasts much longer.

Other First Basemen: Adam LaRoche WAS, Carlos Pena TB

2B- Jemile Weeks OAK- Weeks is a cheap pick today at second base being under 6K. He is a career 2-4 hitter off of Ervin Santana, and Santana hasn't been a great pitcher as of late. This plays out well for Weeks. With the catchers the Angels have been rolling out there, we like Weeks to be successful stealing a bag once he gets on base.

Other Second Basemen: Ian Kinsler TEX, Omar Infante MIA

3B- Miguel Cabrera DET- Cabrera is a great example of a stud hitter who has struggled and has therefore dropped in price significantly over the last week. He was priced one time at around 12K, and now he is priced at 9.6K. He went 2-4 last night, and is facing his third lefty in a row. This time Sanchez is one of the wild ones and is always due for some bad innings.

Other Third Basemen: Matt Carpenter/David Freese STL

SS- Elvis Andrus- Although Andrus is only 2-10 career off of Beckett we consider those numbers to be skewed because of how good Beckett was when Andrus was a young hitter just entering the league. Beckett had a great outing his last time out against the Rays, but had a terrible start to open his season against the Tigers. Andrus struggled to begin the season but is 3 for his last 8 hitting in 5 of his last 6 games.

Other Shortstops: Troy Tulowitzki COL, Ian Desmond WAS

OF- Emilio Bonifacio MIA- Bonifacio is a speed demon and is killer on the basepathes. Last night he showed that. He is facing Garza tonight, a pretty solid starter for the Cubs, but it is at home. We like him to maybe hit one into the gap or to at least have a walk and a stolen base tonight.

OF- Jose Bautista TOR- Bautista had a great game yesterday hitting a home run and a sac fly. He seems to be coming around big time with hits in 4 games straight and extra base hits in two consecutive games. Bautista is 9 for 27 career off of David Price.

OF- Nelson Cruz TEX- Cruz is a hunch pick here for us. He had a great game last night and we are hoping for his under 6K price he can repeat that performance. He doesn't have good career numbers against Beckett, but it's at Boston and maybe he can hit a pop up off the wall. Total hunch pick here for a good price.

SP- Tommy Hunter BAL- Hunter is facing the White Sox who haven't been able to consistently hit in the last week or so. These are the names of the last 3 starters against the White Sox who have been able to pitch very well against them: Chen, Arrieta, and Smyly. Yea, Hunter fits right along with those 3.

SP- Jaime Garcia STL- Garcia is a pretty solid lefty for the Cardinals going against a struggling Reds team. Phillips is back in that lineup now, but we don't see him having that much of an impact on today's score considering two of the best hitters in that lineup are lefties. Votto should be fine today, but Bruce is struggling and we would stay away from him.

RP- Henry Rodriguez WAS- Rodriguez is a amidst of a closer shuffle. Lidge and Rodriguez seem to be going with an every other save opportunity type deal for the Nationals. We don't like the Astros to win, but we don't see it as high scoring. Lidge got the save, so we like Rodriguez to close it out tonight.
