MLB Picks Friday

C- Alex Avila DET- Avila is a great play today with the matchup against the White Sox. Chicago isn't a pitcher's park by any means and Avila has played many games there. He's one of the best hitting catchers in the league and for 7.7K we like the play.

Other Catchers: Miguel Montero ARI

1B- Carlos Pena TB- Pena is a very hot hitter who had a great game yesterday going 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks. That's a solid fine for a guy who faced a lefty in Smyly. Pena shouldn't have any trouble facing off against Beckett in Boston seeing that in Detroit the Tigers roughed him up big time for 5 home runs.

Other First Basemen: Paul Goldschmidt ARI, Adam Laroche WAS

2B- Michael Young TEX- Young is a great pure hitter who went off yesterday with 2 singles and a home run. Those are great daily fantasy numbers. We are going to ride this hot game of his and hope for another as he faces a non power pitcher in Swarzak.

Other Second Basemen: Kelly Johnson TOR, Aaron Hill ARI

3B- Kyle Seager SEA- Seager is a very hot hitting lefty that will be hitting in Oakland tonight. Bartolo Colon can be a good pitcher with a lot of movement as he showed in his first start of the season, but we think he'll be more like the second start Colon and give up some runs. Seager is fairly cheap at the price of 5.7K.

Other Third Basemen: David Freese STL, Edwin Encarnacion TOR

SS- Rafael Furcal STL- Furcal is hitting over .400 right now and has triple type speed on any given night. This is what we like out of a high priced guy because stolen bases, runs and extra base hits are where you make your money. Furcal has a good matchup against Samardzija at home.

Other Shortstops: Brandon Crawford SF, Derek Jeter NYY

OF- Matt Kemp LAD- Kemp is about as surefire a pick as there is right now. He's a great hitter for speed and power and he shows it day in and day out. He faces the lefty in Clayton Richard at home. This is a solid matchup going against a lefty at your home park.

OF- Alejandro De Aza CWS- De Aza had a great series against the Indians this past week. He hit his first two home runs of the year to go along with a bundle of hits. He's a lefty facing the righty in Scherzer today and we kind of like that matchup. Scherzer is a guy that can get into trouble easily. Facing the White Sox won't be easy for him, and we think De Aza will be a tough out.

OF- Jordan Schafer HOU- Schafer can steal a bag with the best of em, but he's not highly skilled in getting hits. There lies the problem with him. If he can get on base he can do a lot of damage with that speed of his. He's going to be playing in a spacious park in Miami facing Ricky Nolasco.

SP- Lucas Harrell HOU- Harrell isn't the safest of picks, but we like him against the Marlins tonight. He pitched very well last week against the Braves, but we don't over value that performance because of how the Braves are hitting right now. We love the fact that the game is in Miami and their huge park. It isn't playing like a hitter's park at all.

SP- Felix Hernandez SEA- King Felix is a great play tonight because of his strikeout potential. He's got 13 K's on the season, so he's a great play for that reason alone. He has faced the A's already, so that's kind of a negative, but we don't think it'll matter considering the A's offensive talent and the park that they are playing in.

RP- Francisco Cordero TOR- Cordero is a fresh arm tonight against the Orioles which always comes into play for relievers. He is also the closer for the Jays until after Saturday because of Santos' wife expecting a child. Cordero only costs 1.5K because he's usually not the closer. He's got a great price and in a favorable matchup against the O's.

RP- Brandon League SEA- League is a solid matchup in what should be more of a pitching matchup between the A's and Mariners in Oakland. He's put up some good numbers this year and we don't see the A's doing anything to hurt them.
